Background
The Kölsch at Rosko's became such a hit last year that it became one of our de facto staple beers. To this day, it holds the longest running streak for being on tap at Rosko's. It came on in November of 2023 and stayed until the end of July of 2024, right before the release of our Oktoberfest Series beers. Due to the fast sales, we quickly had to pivot and released three back-to-back-to-back batches to keep it on tap that long.
At 5.1% ABV and 28 IBU, this is a super enjoyable drinker for the craft beer enthusiast and macro drinker alike. What makes the Kölsch special is that it is an ale that is fermented & conditioned like a lager. Any overly expressive yeast qualities are conditioned out, leaving a super bright pear, apple, crackery, and earthy taste. Not quite as extreme as a common blonde ale, not quite as muted as a common lager, this beer is brilliantly curated to somewhere in the middle, which is pleasing to your taste buds.

Kölsch Service Wednesdays
"Lecker Bierchen" is the name of our Kölsch, which means "tasty little beer." The name comes from an German meme, which has some super funny YouTube videos that accompany the name (see GiGi Herr).
One of the coolest parts of our release of Lecker Bierchen is Kölsch Service Wednesdays. Mimicking beer culture in Köln (Cologne), Germany, beers are served in 200mL glasses called stanges. Stanges equate to approximately 7 oz. The smaller serving size keeps the beer fresh and cold, and the tall cylindrical nature of the stange allows it to flow effortlessly to your mouth.
Once you finish a stange, our server will come around and automatically replace your stange with a new, full one. The server will mark a tally on your coaster for each stange consumed. When you are finished drinking Kölsch, you simply place your coaster on top of your empty stange, which signals to the server you are wrapped up and ready to check out.
This is the only true full service model we offer at Rosko's. Customers usually order at the bar and are served their drinks immediately, then go back and forth from their seats. But Kölsch night is more immersive & fun experience, and is traditional to highly respected German roots.
Kölsch Service is available all day on Wednesdays. Our full menu is also available, so you can order other drinks, food, and more, on Wednesdays. But if you're interested in having Kölsch, we highly recommend this experience. Próst!
